Since its inception in 2004, Krauter & Company has not accepted any of the carrier sponsored contingency or profit sharing plans that lead to the NY Attorney General’s indictment of several members of the insurance community. Since then, many carriers have devised alternative plans which allow them to provide additional compensation to the insurance brokers without the conflict of interest issues between broker and client that plagued previous plans. All of these new plans being offered have been reviewed and approved by the various Insurance Commissioners in the states where the insurance companies are domiciled.
In 2009, Krauter & Company may begin to accept some of these new plans from several carriers. These plans offer supplemental compensation to brokers based on their overall book of business and are in no way affected by loss ratios or the amount of new business placed with that particular market.
